This tour immerses you in the regional highlights of the Overberg, Garden Route, Klein Karoo and Addo region. This is a must see for all visitors to Southern Africa, and includes opportunities to undertake various activities, and sightseeing that appeals to diverse interests and age groups. Visit De Hoop Nature reserve, home to various species of plant and animal life, and an ideal place for land based whale watching in season. Travel through quaint towns that reflect years gone by, influenced by early settlers, and travel past hills covered in various crops. Learn of the early interaction between Europeans and the local inhabitants, and visit various places of interest along the way while your guide provides insight. Walk on some of the pristine beaches that are a familiar site along the Garden Route. Bungy jump from one of the highest bridges, and walk the Storms River bridge, and under canopies of indigenous forest. Tour the renowned Addo Elephant Park, on horseback or game-viewing vehicle, and visit the surfing community of Jeffreys Bay. Enjoy an evening on the picturesque Knynsna Waterfront, and safari through an ostrich farm. Make the most of the unique shopping experiences along Route 62 of various keepsakes, returning back to Cape Town. Itinerary

Day 1Cape Town to Mossel Bay, via De Hoop and Swellendam

Pass over the old “Eland Trail” where tradesmen’s wagons of centuries past stood in line to pass en route to Cape Town from the Overberg. This region produces large quantities of apples bound for export markets across the world, pass vast fields of wheat, oats or canola depending on the season, and keep an eye out for South Africa’s national bird the bluecrane endemic to this region. Youll visit Cape Nature’s “De Hoop” nature reserve famous for soem of the best land based whale watching in the world, and its beautiful floral display during the spring time (August and September). Your next stop is in Swellendam the third oldest magisterial district of South Africa, where the “National Burghers” decided to declare themselves a republic independent from Dutch rule before the British occupied the Cape and governed. Make your way along the N2 to Mossel Bay where youll overnight. Mossel Bay is the site Bartholomew Dias landind on the 3rd of February 1488, the first known European to have rounded the point of Africa which lead to the trade route via sea to open up between Europe and the East.

Day 2Mossel Bay to Port Elizabeth, via Plettenberg Bay and Storms River Mouth

Make your way from Mossel Bay long the Garden Route, originally home to the Khoisan people that hunted and raised cattle in close relationship with the land. Pass George a town named of King George the 3rd once the British goverend the Cape, once a woodcutting community. Pass the Wilderness region and sedgefield en Route to Plettenberg Bay, where an opportunity to stretch legs on the beach is provided. Make your way to one of the highest suspension bridges “Bloukrans” ,where an opportunity to bunjee jump is provided. Hereafter visit the spectacular “Storms River Mouth” for a walk under the canopy of indigenous vegetation, and across the river on a spectatular pedestrian suspension bridge. Your adventure for the day ends in Port Elizabeth, scattered with Victorian landmarks, where youll overnight.

Day 3Port Elizabeth to Knysna via Addo and Jeffreys Bay

Your day touring commences with an early visit to Addo Elephant National Park, World acclaimed for its Elephant conservation efforts. An opportunity is provided to either undertake a game drive with local game rangers, or to ride horses in this beautiful setting, alternatively continue with your guide in the minivan, while he continues a tour through the park. Once an opportunity for lunch has been undertaken, your tour continues by passing the town of Jeffreys bay, one of the most renowned surfing spots in the World. Here you are provided an opportunity to purchase keepsakes from the local merchants. Your last stop for the day is in Knysna where youll overnight. Make the most of the opportunity to visit the local waterfront an ideal setting to end the evening overlooking this unique region.

Day 4Knysna to Cape Town, via Oudtshoorn, Montagu and Paarl

Your last days touring takes you to the Town of Oudtshoorn, home of the Ostrich farming community in South Africa. Here you’ll undertake a tour gaining insight into this amazing creature and the commercial viability they represent. Your tour continues along the famous Route 62 past such towns as Barrydale, and other quaint towns that are tourist delights. Visit the town of Montagu, nestled between beautiful mountains and hot water springs. The last strectch of the tour passes the town of Paarl nestled in the Drakenstein Valley en route to Cape Town where your 4 days of touring ends
